Google Sitelinks
Google Sitelinks are sub listings that enhance the websites natural search results by increasing a site’s visibility, and reputation by driving additional traffic to your Search Engine Results Page (SERP).
Sitelinks are the extra links that appear under a main listing in search results to help searchers navigate a site without having to first go to the homepage.
As far as we know, sitelinks are generated automatically. Sitelinks are created algorithmically to help users quickly navigate. To have Google display sitelinks on your SERP it must determine a relevant structure for your site propitious to sitelinks, and that sitelinks will be helpful for the user’s query. Like most of Google’s methodology towards Search Engine Optimization (SEO), you can look at this as yet another reward system for ranking high in your keyword selections as well as the popularity of your overall website.
If you have a Google Webmaster Account you can edit the sitelinks by using Google’s Webmaster Tools under -> Links -> Sitelinks. There you can either block or update the current links Google has listed for your site. The wording of sub pages listed in a Sitelink can include anchor text, images alt text, and the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) name. In creating Sitelink pages, keep these considerations in mind. The goal is to create consistency.
How Google qualifies pages for Sitelinks is still quite a mystery we may never fully understand. However, we can come to some conclusions by examining other SERP’s that have been successful in developing Sitelinks for their sites.
