Do links from blogs, comments, and forums help for search engine optimization?

Question: -
Q: Do links in forums benefit you?

Answer: -
What matters is the link authority of the site that links to you, its place in appropriate communities (is it near you in a community sense, whether physically or in the same industry?), the link syntax, and of course the quantity of links. A link from a blog or forum can be very helpful.

However, always look for the NOFOLLOW attribute. Go to View Source, and look at links from the blog or forum; if you see the REL=NOFOLLOW attribute, then this link has cancelled out its 'vote' with respect to Google PageRank. This is a very common practice among blogs and forums.

And don't forget, however, that the link can still have value - if a lot of people read the blog or forum, you can get direct traffic.

Hope this helps!

- Jason
