How do links age?

Question: -
Q: How much upkeep do links need? Once you have a link, is it valuable forever, or is it best to continually solicit new links?

Answer: -
How does the proverb go?

Make new friends, keep the old. One is silver, one is gold.

Similarly with links. All links - even old links - are valuable, especially links with the link trifecta - good syntax, high authority, and lots of quantity. There isn't any reason to assume that the link value dies over time, although Google probably does reward all sites that have frequent content updates.

That said, you want to make link-building an on-going part of your SEO process. It takes time, so devote an hour or so each week to it. It's like saving money in a bank. You'll be surprised over time just how many links you might end up with!

Get new links, keep the old. One is silver, one is gold.

Hope this helps!
