How deep should a sitemap be for best SEO practices?

Question: -
Q: Should your html sitemap point to every page on your web site, or just the top level ones.

Answer: -
Your home page should link to your site map, and then your sitemap should link, at least, to your high level directory pages, and those should (in turn) link to your individual pages. You do not need to link to everything but you do need to make sure it is an unbreakable chain from your home page to every page you want indexed on your site.

And remember, Javascript navigation does not work! Google will only follow simple HTML links in a reliable way. So one issue if you have Javascript pull downs is to make sure that there is an alternate simple HTML path via the sitemap.html file.

Hope this helps!
