How important are domain names? How do we identify good ones for SEO?

Question: -
Q: How do we change domain or directory names? What's a good resource to learn how?

Answer: -
Domains, as we know, are very important to SEO. Google rewards domains that contain the keywords, so if possible, choose a domain that contains your keywords. If you already have a domain, you might consider registering one or two alternative domains that contain keywords.

Here are the steps.

  1. Identify a domain that contains your keywords. Use a site like Domai.nr to browse available domains based on your keywords.
  2. Register your domain. Contact your ISP. They can have multiple domains point to your same website.
  3. Proliferate LINKS to your domain. Your domain means nothing without links. It will require inbound links to get Google to 'recognize' it as valuable.

It's very much like names in the real world. You can change your name as much as you want, but it's what other people call you that counts. Similarly with Google: change your domain / or add a new one, but then get links to make that a 'real' domain in terms of Google content.

Hope this helps!
