Great question! One instinctual feeling I have is that placing Youtube videos on your website may help just because Google owns Youtube, and Google is keen to promote Youtube. But I have no evidence for that. It's just a hunch.
Beyond that, I can say that Google cannot read video, so if you do embed Video on your website (home page or elsewhere), but sure to put HTML around it that indicates that it is a video and what it is about. Make sure that it is keyword heavy for your target keywords. Finally, realize the Youtube is an enormous SEO opportunity. Create a Youtube channel for yourself or your company. Upload videos, and use your keywords in the titles of the video and the descriptions. On many searches, Google promotes Youtube videos, so there is a very direct benefit here.
