How do you control blog links for SEO? Should you use the NOFOLLOW attribute for blogs?

Question: -
Q: If blogs are a good SEO strategy, how do you control content before it goes live on your web site? How do you avoid negative stuff on your blogs?

Answer: -
Google loves blogs, because Google loves fresh, keyword heavy content. User generated content is great because it is an inexpensive way to create great content, and if you can build a real community, all the better. Beyond Google, your goal of creating a powerful interactive community via a blog is to be commended.

But there is such a thing as search engine spam or even blog spam. People just post to your blog and post all sorts of junkie comments with their websites to get links and encourage cross traffic. One trick is to embed the REL=NOFOLLOW attribute in all blog comments, as that denudes the link from having any Google authority. (Here's a link on NOFOLLOW at Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow). Another trick is to not instantly post your blog comments. That will require some sort of human editor to manage / approve them. And a third is a hybrid, whereby you create trusted users and let them post immediately vs. new users, who have to be approved.

Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution. Google loves blogs, but for user generated blog content for SEO, you just have to be careful and manage it.

Hope this helps!
