For main stream indexing services like PRLOG.org, or PRWEB.com, Google is very, very quick to pick up their news. You can post a news release and see it appear on the Google index in less than a day.
Don't forget - you also want the news on your own website. That encourages Google to pick it up 'at the source.' And you should make a habit of having your latest news releases, 'one click' from the home page. That gets them indexed, and also encourages Google to see your site as one that is active, alive, and vibrant (and therefore worth indexing more frequently!)
