What is spidering or crawling of a web page for SEO?

Question: -
Q: What does it mean "to be crawled.?

Answer: -
Crawling or indexing is part of the process of getting 'into' the Google index.

Here are the steps -

  1. You create your website.
  2. You tell Google about it via Webmaster tools, AddURL, news releases, and/or links.
  3. Google discovers it, and sends the Googlebot spider out to crawl it.
  4. Googlebot lands on your home page and clicks from page to page on the site. It takes summaries (samples) of your pages.
  5. These pages 'return' to Google's home database, as it were, and become database summaries in the enormous internal database that Google has of the entire web.
  6. Users input queries, and hopefully see your pages as you do your SEO correctly!

So to get in the index, you must first be crawled. Crawling is a necessary (but not sufficient) condition to being in the Google index, and thereby having a chance at getting to the No. 1 position!

Hope this helps!
