How detrimental is duplicate content to SEO?

Question: -
Q: How do you feel about duplicate content - your site and another site - with respect to SEO and off-page activities (articles, blogs, etc.)?

Answer: -
Duplicate content - i.e., the exact same content across pages on your website, or between your website and another - can hurt. It isn't the worst thing you can do. But in general you do want independent, unique content.

In general, SIMILAR content - say, posting something on a blog, creating a news release on it, having a product page, etc., - is actually a good SEO tactic. Repurposing such content can expand your website. What I do not recommend is 'cookie cutter' content that is exactly the same, minue one or two words. That is frowned upon.

Hope this helps!
