Is a competitor is poorly indexed, why do they do so well on Google?
Question: -
Q: I did a site search on Shamwow.com, a competitor, and they only have one link. Why do they come up so much on the internet, if they only have one page showing up on the "site:" search
Answer: -
You are right: shamwow.com has only one page in the Google index, its home page. Now whether it is No. 1 or not for keywords depends on what the keywords are. For a search like 'Sham Wow,' they are No. 1. This is because their domain matches, their home page has the keyword in good density, and the TITLE tag also has that.
They may benefit from other links as well. Now, for other keywords they may do very poorly - for example, car shammies, or home cleaners. It is always a function of WHICH keywords you are targeting.
Hope this helps!
