Help - my web traffic has suddenly plunged - what does this mean vs. Google?

Question: -
Q. Our website a few months ago was getting three times the visitors we're getting now, but since then our numbers have gone back down. We noticed in our Google Analytics that while our numbers were up our top referring sites were mostly google search engines from different countries around the world. We also noticed that once they fell off our top referring sites our numbers went down. We're not sure what to attribute to this increase in google searches, but would like to figure it out so we can get back up there.

Answer: -
There are many reasons why your website traffic might plunge like this. Look at your Google Analytics data and compare the month before and after the plunge. Look at referrer websites - did that change? Look at search engine traffic? Did that change?

You basically have to be a 'Google Detective.' First and foremost, monitor your rank on Google for your target keywords. That is where I would begin.

Hope this helps!
