Which is more important for SEO - the TITLE tag or META DESCRIPTION tag?
Question: -
Q: Which is more important, the Title Page Tags or the Meta Description?
Answer: -
Both are important. They have different roles. The TITLE tag controls -
- The TITLE at the very tippy top of the browser (not that important)
- The TITLE of your listing on Google for that page - hugely important, write TITLE tags that read like ad headlines, and make people WANT TO CLICK.
- Whether you appear on a given Google search. If the TITLE tag matches the search query inputted by the user, that is a HUGE BOOST to showing up on Google.
So use TITLE tags wisely! They should be UNIQUE, and ACCURATE on each and every page of your website. Put your strategic keywords that are MOST IMPORTANT for a page into them.
The META DESCRIPTION tag or more properly the META NAME="Description" CONTENT="Put your content here" controls the VISIBLE description on Google. Most of the time, but not always, Google will grab the first 150 characters of that tag for its description. So write it pithy, write it fun, write is as your FREE AD text on Google.
Hope this helps!
