How does the Facebook 'like' button work in terms of Facebook marketing?
Question: -
Q: what happens when you click the 'like" button on a website and that like button is for the website, not the facebook page? Will there post appear on your facebook?
Answer: -
This is where the confusion begins. If you are ON FACEBOOK, the LIKE FEATURE means that you LIKE their Facebook page and thereby give them authority to post to their WALL and thereby your NEWS FEED. If you are on the WEB and click on the LIKE BUTTON on their web page, you are liking JUST THAT URL, and that does post to your Facebook. You have NOT given them permission to post to their Wall and thereby your news feed. You have just liked their Web URL, a one-time event.
To make it more complicated, if they use their FACEBOOK URL as the LIKE BUTTON then - yes - you are actually liking their FACEBOOK PAGE and thereby giving them permission to post to your news feed. One is for the Web (the Facebook like button) and one is on Facebook (the Facebook like feature).
Hope this helps!
