Does the header tag family (h1, h2) matter for SEO, or not?
Question: -
Q: What if you have keywords that aren't showing up but are on your site?
Q: My It director says H1 Does don't matter so we do not have them on our site, do you have an opinion?
Answer: -
As for your first question, I am not sure what you mean. The TITLE tag is very important and ONLY appears at the top of the browser, so in this sense it is invisible. The META DESCRIPTION is also invisible; showing only on Google searches. And the META KEYWORDS is both invisible and unimportant.
As for the second question, that is a common one. Many of the 'guru's' insist that the H1 / H2 tag has no important. But, if you Google, 'Google SEO Guide,' you'll find Google's own SEO guide, which has an entire section on using the H1 / H2 tag. So who do you trust? The guru, or Google? The second point is that using the H1 / H2 tag clearly does NOT hurt your site... but may help it. So why not use it?
What is so bizarre about this attitude... is how sure someone is that it DOESN'T matter. Maybe it doesn't but a) Google says USE IT, and b) it clearly can't hurt. So perhaps it's a rabbit foot, perhaps not. Finally, do some competitive searches like 'Auto Insurance Quote' - do a VIEW SOURCE and you'll see it heavily in use. So maybe Geico just has a great rabbit foot, maybe not.
LOL. Go give your guru a rabbit's foot and tell him or her not to be so sure of himself. LOL.
Hope this helps!
