Ed Bailey - Born April 15, 1931 in Strawberry Plains, TN. Died March 23, 2007. Major League Baseball player. Hit 28 home runs in 1956 for Cincinnati, including three in one game. Also won the major leagues' Sophomore of the Year honor that year. Played professional ball for 17 years. Was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. Was also Field Representative to U.S. Congressman John Duncan Sr. and Knoxville City Council member for 12 years.

Singer, songwriter, and actor, has had numerous number one hit songs recorded by big name country music stars. In the late 70's he represented the state of Tennessee as the "Tennessean." Well known for his anti-litter Public Service Announcements for the state of TN, titled, "Tennessee Trash."
